Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Box Office Collection Day 2: Rajkummar Rao's Film Stays Ahead of Jigra, Earns ₹6.75 Crore

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, continued to hold a slight edge over Alia Bhatt’s Jigra on its second day at the box office, despite lukewarm reviews and a brewing controversy. Directed by Raaj Shaandilya, the film, which opened to ₹5.25 crore on Friday, managed to collect ₹6.75 crore on Saturday, showing a moderate growth of under 30%. With this, the two-day collection has crossed ₹12 crore.

Despite the initial lead over Jigra, the gap between the two films narrowed significantly by Saturday, with Jigra seeing an improvement in collections to ₹6.50 crore. While both films opened on the same day, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video managed a stronger start but is struggling to maintain momentum due to mixed critical reception.

Reviews and Controversy Affect Performance

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has faced backlash from critics who have called the film disappointing, chaotic, and inconsistent. However, performances by Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Raaz have been widely praised, offering some redeeming elements to the otherwise underwhelming storyline. The film’s satirical take on the 90s and its slapstick comedy approach hasn’t resonated as well with audiences.

Adding to the film’s troubles, a controversy erupted after it was revealed that the makers used the character of Stree from the Stree film universe without proper authorization from Maddock Films. In response to the criticism, director Raaj Shaandilya issued a public apology, acknowledging the oversight and promising to remove the unauthorised segment from the film. The controversial scene involved the characters Vicky and Vidya encountering the ghost from Stree, which reportedly angered T-Series for not securing the intellectual property rights from Maddock Films before using it.

Plot and Cast

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is a slapstick comedy set in the 90s, revolving around a newly-wedded couple, played by Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, whose lives take a chaotic turn when their homemade sex tape is stolen. The film also features notable performances from actors like Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania, and Ashwini Kalsekar. Additionally, it marks the acting comeback of Mallika Sherawat, further generating buzz around its release.

Outlook

The film’s performance in the coming days will likely depend on how well it can maintain its momentum at the box office, especially as it faces stiff competition from Jigra and ongoing negative reviews. The controversy surrounding the unauthorised use of Stree‘s character also casts a shadow over the film’s future prospects.

As the weekend draws to a close, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video will need a strong Sunday performance to solidify its standing, or it risks losing ground to its competitors in the days ahead.
