Urmila Matondkar Files for Divorce from Mohsin Akhtar Mir After Eight Years of Marriage

Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband, businessman-model Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the actress has already initiated divorce proceedings, though the reason for the separation remains undisclosed. The report also states that the divorce is not happening on mutual terms.

A source close to the couple revealed, “After careful consideration, Urmila has decided to call it quits on her marriage with Mohsin. She has already filed for divorce in court.” Further details about the split have yet to be made public.

Urmila and Mohsin tied the knot on February 4, 2016, in an intimate wedding ceremony at the actress’ Mumbai residence. The event was a private affair, attended only by close friends and family. The couple first met at the wedding of designer Manish Malhotra’s niece in 2014, leading to their eventual union two years later.

Urmila Matondkar, a celebrated actress from the 1990s, made her mark on Indian cinema with iconic performances in films such as Rangeela, Judaai, Satya, Mast, Khoobsurat, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Bhoot, and Ek Hasina Thi. She began her career as a child actor in Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom (1983), an adaptation of the 1980 novel Man, Woman and Child by Erich Segal.

Though Urmila has been away from Bollywood for some time, she last appeared in the Marathi film Ajoba in 2014 and made a special appearance in the song Bewafa Beauty from the 2018 film Blackmail.

The news of the divorce has come as a shock to fans of the actress, who have long admired her work on the silver screen and her personal life away from the spotlight.
