The 35-year-old actor, known for his roles in popular TV shows and his reality show win, had been struggling with mental health issues, according to police.
Television actor Nitin Chauhaan, who gained fame through his victory on the reality show Dadagiri 2, was found dead in his Mumbai home on Thursday. Police have reported that Chauhaan, 35, had been battling depression and was undergoing treatment for mental health issues.
According to a statement from his wife, the actor had been out of work for the past three to four years, a situation that severely impacted his mental well-being. Despite making attempts to start a new venture in the form of an ice-cream business, he struggled to find success, further contributing to his emotional distress.
On the day of his death, Chauhaan’s wife was in the apartment complex garden with their younger daughter. Upon returning home, she found the door locked from the inside. After attempts to enter, the door was forced open, and Chauhaan’s unresponsive body was discovered. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police report confirms that no suspicious circumstances have been found, though an investigation is still ongoing. Chauhaan, originally from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, had a diverse television career, with appearances in shows like MTV Splitsvilla 5, Zindagi Dot Com, Crime Patrol, and Friends.
This tragic incident has once again highlighted the importance of mental health support, especially within the entertainment industry, where the pressure of consistent work can heavily affect actors’ well-being.
