Nayanthara Opens Up in 'Beyond the Fairy Tale' Docuseries, Sharing a Glimpse into Her Life and Wedding

Netflix India’s new docuseries reveals the personal journey of South Indian star Nayanthara, from her early days to her recent wedding with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.

Actor Nayanthara, widely revered as “Lady Superstar,” is set to unveil a more personal side of herself in Netflix India’s upcoming docuseries Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. Known for her guarded private life and limited media appearances, this series marks an extraordinary departure for the actor, giving fans an exclusive look into her life, struggles, and relationships, as well as rare footage from her wedding to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.

The trailer, released on Saturday, provides an intimate glimpse into Nayanthara’s evolution—from humble beginnings to superstardom. Featuring insights from friends, family, and industry peers like Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, and Nagarjuna Akkineni, the docuseries explores her dedication as an artist and her roles beyond the screen as a daughter, sister, wife, and mother.

In the trailer, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum co-star Rana Daggubati describes Nayanthara as a “thug” who has maintained a formidable image throughout her career. Meanwhile, Nagarjuna Akkineni, her co-star in Greeku Veerudu, mentions the challenges she initially faced in her personal life. Audiences will also get a look at her spectacular wedding, which took place with a star-studded guest list that included Shah Rukh Khan and Mani Ratnam.

Nayanthara expressed her excitement about the project, calling the documentary a “gift” to her fans: “I’ve shared so much of my life on screen, but this documentary is my gift to the fans — a chance to let them in on the chapters that shaped me. Creating this film has been a true labour of love, and I’m excited for them to see this side of my world.
