Tillu Square Outperforms Crew at North America Box Office; Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Dominates

In a week of box office surprises, Indian films made a significant mark in North America. “Tillu Square,” the Telugu film directed by Mallik Ram and a sequel to “DJ Tillu,” debuted impressively with a $1.8 million haul, securing the 8th position in the top 10 rankings. This success was closely followed by the Hindi film “Crew,” directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, which earned $1.5 million and claimed the 9th spot.

“Tillu Square,” starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Neha Sshetty, showcased its popularity among audiences, while “Crew,” featuring Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, received a positive response from both viewers and critics.

However, overshadowing these Indian releases was the colossal performance of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” The monster blockbuster from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures roared to an astounding $80 million opening on 3,861 screens across North America, capturing the top position in the box office rankings.

Mary Parent, chairman of worldwide production for Legendary, commented on the film’s success, highlighting its cinematic impact and the unprecedented collaboration of iconic characters.

The dominance of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” comes amidst a competitive box office landscape, with other notable films like “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and “Dune: Part Two” maintaining strong positions in the rankings.

With two Indian films making it to the top 10 alongside international blockbusters, the diversity and appeal of cinema continue to resonate with audiences, promising an exciting future for the global box office.

The final box office rankings for the week are as follows:

  3. Dune: Part Two – $11.1 million.
  4. Kung Fu Panda 4 – $10.2 million.
