Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated action film “Jaat” is facing an uphill battle at the box office, recording modest earnings in its first two days of release.
After a lukewarm start on day one, Jaat has failed to pick up significant momentum. According to trade reports and official data shared by production house Mythri Movie Makers, the film has earned only ₹20.10 crore gross in India across two days, with overseas collections estimated between ₹2.5-3 crore. This brings the total worldwide gross to a disappointing ₹22-23 crore.
Compared to Sunny Deol’s previous blockbuster Gadar 2, which made a staggering ₹108 crore worldwide within the same time frame in 2023, Jaat is struggling to live up to expectations. Marketed as a high-octane pan-India action entertainer and helmed by popular Telugu director Gopichand Malineni in his Hindi debut, the film has underperformed so far.
Occupancy data adds to the concerning picture. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Jaat saw just 5.4% occupancy in morning shows on Friday, though it improved slightly to 17.4% by night. Despite this modest rise, the film’s current trajectory suggests a difficult weekend ahead unless word-of-mouth significantly boosts turnout.
The ensemble cast of Jaat includes Regina Cassandra, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu. With such a star-studded lineup and high production values, expectations were high. However, early box office numbers indicate that audience reception hasn’t matched the pre-release hype.
Makers are now pinning their hopes on the weekend footfall to improve and help recover part of the film’s investment. Whether Jaat can defy the odds and bounce back remains to be seen.
