Sonakshi Sinha Recalls Father Shatrughan Sinha's Heartwarming Reaction to Her Wedding Plans

In a recent interview with Galatta India, Sonakshi Sinha opened up about her father’s reaction to her wedding plans with Zaheer Iqbal. The actress, who tied the knot with Zaheer in a private ceremony last month, shared how she approached her father, Shatrughan Sinha, with the news and his unexpected yet heartwarming response.

Sonakshi admitted to feeling nervous about discussing her marriage with her father and had even nudged Zaheer to initiate the conversation. However, it was Sonakshi who eventually took the step to sit down with her father and break the news. Recalling the moment, Sonakshi said, “I had a very lovely chat with my dad. I was getting a little bit nervous, so I went up to him and I sat down with him. I know my dad appreciates humor, so I tried to take a very different approach.”

In a bid to ease the tension, Sonakshi joked with her father, asking, “Kya aapko chinta nahi kya, beti ki shaadi nahi ho rahi? Aapko parwa nahi hai?” (Don’t you care that your daughter is not getting married?) Her father’s response was more reassuring than she had anticipated. “He said, ‘Of course hai, main mummy se puchta rehta hoon. Kyun kya hua.'” (Of course, I keep asking your mom what happened.)

Sonakshi then shared her plans with her father, revealing Zaheer as her chosen partner. “I told him about Zaheer and that we’ve been together for so long, he makes me very, very happy, and he’s my best friend. So, I had a very lovely chat with my dad. I thought it would be so difficult, but it was actually so easy.”

Shatrughan Sinha’s reaction was both supportive and humorous. After hearing about Zaheer, he told Sonakshi, “Acha, toh main dundta hoon na” (I will look for a groom for you). When Sonakshi clarified that she had already found him, her father’s response was heartwarming. He said, “You’ll are grown adults, you’ll love each other, toh miyan biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi?” (When the bride and groom are ready, what else to be done?) Go for it.”

Sonakshi’s father also addressed rumors of a rift between him and his daughter before the wedding. Despite earlier statements suggesting he was unaware of the wedding plans, Shatrughan Sinha later blessed the couple, expressing his joy and support. He stated, “Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is given to her chosen groom. My daughter looks most happy with Zaheer. Unki jodi salamat rahe” (May their union stay strong forever).

Sonakshi and Zaheer Iqbal’s marriage was officially registered under the Special Marriage Act, marking the beginning of their new journey together. The heartfelt interaction with her father has only added to the joy surrounding their union, showcasing a blend of love, humor, and familial support.
