Salman Khan’s 'Sikandar' Nears ₹200 Crore Mark Worldwide by Day 8, Still Trails Behind 'L2 Empuraan'

Salman Khan’s Eid release, Sikandar, is inching closer to the ₹200 crore mark at the global box office, but the film continues to face stiff competition and lukewarm reception. Despite being helmed by acclaimed director AR Murugadoss and backed by Nadiadwala Grandson, Sikandar has struggled to make a significant impact since its release on March 30.

As per the latest update shared by the film’s production house, Sikandar has grossed ₹197.45 crore worldwide in its first 8 days. The film earned ₹7.11 crore in India and ₹2.5 crore overseas on Sunday alone, showing a modest rise from Friday and Saturday collections.

While the film’s domestic net earnings stand at approximately ₹4.50 crore for Day 8, Sikandar has now crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India. It initially opened with a disappointing ₹54.72 crore and had managed ₹105.89 crore by the end of Day 2.

However, from Day 5 onwards, the film has seen a concerning dip in momentum, with consistent single-digit daily earnings — a rare trend for a Salman Khan starrer. Comparisons with the actor’s recent hits highlight this gap: Tiger 3 had raked in ₹373 crore globally within the same time frame, while Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan had made ₹152.50 crore in 8 days — a figure Sikandar has managed to surpass.

After surpassing the collections of Game Changer, Sikandar now faces competition from upcoming releases like L2 Empuraan and Sankranthiki Vasthunam. The benchmark set by Chhaava, which is soaring past ₹800 crore, remains a distant dream.

In Sikandar, Salman Khan plays the role of Sanjay Rajkot, a righteous man whose peaceful life with his wife Saisri (played by Rashmika Mandanna) turns chaotic when he confronts a corrupt politician and his wayward son. The film also features an ensemble cast including Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Kishore, Jatin Sarna, and Sanjay Kapoor.

As the second week unfolds, all eyes are on whether Sikandar can build on its weekend numbers and finally breach the ₹200 crore milestone, or if its momentum will continue to falter.
