Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Under Investigation for Alleged ₹90 Lakh Fraud After Court Order

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, are under scrutiny as a Mumbai court has directed the police to investigate a complaint accusing them of defrauding an investor in a gold scheme amounting to ₹90 lakh.

A managing director of a bullion firm, Prithviraj Kothari, filed the complaint against Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, and two others associated with Satyug Gold Private Limited, a company founded by the couple. Additional sessions judge NP Mehta found a prima facie cognizable offence and instructed the Bandra Kurla Complex police station to register an FIR against the accused.

According to the complaint, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra introduced a scheme in 2014 where investors were required to pay upfront for gold at a discounted rate. The investment promised a specific quantity of gold to be delivered on a future date. Kothari invested ₹90,38,600 under this scheme, expecting to receive 5,000 grams of 24-carat gold by April 2, 2019.

However, Kothari claims that despite fulfilling his part of the agreement, the promised gold was never delivered to him. He alleges that the scheme was fraudulent and accuses Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra of conspiring to commit the offence.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have not publicly responded to these allegations yet. The court’s order for a police probe signifies a significant development in the case, with authorities expected to investigate the details of the investment scheme and ascertain any potential wrongdoing.

The case highlights the complexities and risks associated with investment schemes, emphasizing the importance of due diligence and transparency in financial transactions. As the investigation progresses, more details are likely to emerge regarding the allegations and the legal proceedings involving Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, and Satyug Gold Private Limited.
