Shankar Spends ₹75 Crore on Songs for Game Changer, Redefining Extravagance in Indian Cinema

Renowned filmmaker Shankar has set new benchmarks for extravagance in Indian cinema with his upcoming Telugu debut, Game Changer. Known for his opulent filmmaking style, Shankar has reportedly spent a staggering ₹75 crore on filming just five songs for the political thriller.

Massive Budgets and Elaborate Sets

The film’s producer, Dil Raju, confirmed the unprecedented expenditure during the trailer launch in Mumbai. “There are five songs in the film, and the budget is ₹75 crore,” he stated, adding, “Each song has taken 10-12 days to shoot with massive sets and hundreds of background dancers.”

While the exact individual costs of the songs remain undisclosed, it is speculated that one of them might become the most expensive song ever made in Indian cinema. This would add to Shankar’s legacy, as his song Yanthara Lokapu Sundarive from 2.0 currently holds the title with a budget of ₹20 crore.

Shankar’s Legacy of Song Extravagance

Shankar’s flair for visual spectacle in songs is not new. In the 90s, his film Jeans became the most expensive Indian film of its time, with its iconic song Ajooba shot across the seven wonders of the world. Featuring Aishwarya Rai and Abbas, the song was produced on a then-unprecedented budget of ₹2 crore.

This penchant for grandeur continues with Game Changer, as Shankar pushes the envelope yet again, creating a visual feast that reflects his signature style of storytelling through cinematic opulence.

About Game Changer

Game Changer stars Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and SJ Suryah in lead roles and is being made on an estimated budget of ₹500 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films to date. The film is set for a grand release on January 10 in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

With a track record of delivering cinematic masterpieces, Shankar’s ambitious venture is eagerly awaited by audiences across India, promising a mix of gripping storytelling and unparalleled visual artistry.
