The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, is back with a bang as his much-awaited action-packed film, “Jawan,” directed by Atlee, took the box office by storm on its opening day. The film, featuring a star-studded cast including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, has set a new record in the history of Hindi cinema by grossing an astounding ₹129.6 crore worldwide on its first day of release.

Global Box Office Triumph

“Jawan” not only witnessed packed theaters in India but also made a resounding impact on the international box office. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s impressive performance in various international markets. In Australia, “Jawan” debuted at the number one spot, raking in Australian $398,030 (approximately ₹2.11 crore). Similarly, it made an impressive debut in New Zealand, capturing the top spot with New Zealand $79,805 (around ₹39.13 lakh). In Germany, the film secured the third position with a collection of €146,014 (approximately ₹1.3 crore). The United Kingdom also saw a significant opening with £208,061 (around ₹2.16 crore) till 9.20 am IST, with more locations yet to be added. In the US and Canada, the film had a flying start, promising strong numbers.

Massive Fan Celebrations

The release of “Jawan” created an unparalleled frenzy among fans, who turned theaters into stadiums with their loud cheers and dancing. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan were so excited that they flocked to Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy theater at 6 am to catch the first show. A video shared on social media showed fans chanting, “India ki shaan Shah Rukh Khan (India’s pride Shah Rukh Khan),” as they eagerly awaited the film’s screening. Shah Rukh Khan responded to their enthusiasm, saying, “Love you boys and girls. I hope you enjoy the entertainment. Kept awake to see you go to the theater. Big love and thanks.”

Nayanthara’s Graceful Reaction

Nayanthara, who plays a prominent role in “Jawan,” attended a special screening of the film in Mumbai along with her husband-filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. As they made their way through the airport and passed by paparazzi, one of the photographers praised the film, saying, “Jawan movie nahi festival hai (Jawan isn’t a movie, but a festival).” Nayanthara graciously smiled and responded with a “Thank you.” She was elegantly dressed in a simple blue salwar suit, with her hair tied in a bun.

Before the film’s release, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan sought blessings at the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Tirupati, accompanied by Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan.

Historic Box Office Debut

According to Sacnilk.com, “Jawan” earned a staggering ₹75 crore nett in India on its first day of release. The rough data indicates that the film minted ₹65 crore nett in Hindi and ₹5 crore nett each in Tamil and Telugu, making it a multi-lingual hit.

“Jawan” has truly marked a historic beginning for Hindi cinema, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see if it continues to break records in the days to come.
