Amazon Prime Video has announced the premiere of Angry Young Men, a highly anticipated docuseries that delves into the extraordinary legacy of Bollywood screenwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. Set to launch on August 20, the three-part series promises an in-depth exploration of the creative partnership that revolutionized Indian cinema.
Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Entertainment, and Tiger Baby Films, the docuseries is a collaborative effort spearheaded by superstar Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti. Directed by Namrata Rao, known for her editing work on acclaimed films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Ishqiya, and Kahaani, Angry Young Men will provide a comprehensive look at the duo’s impact on the film industry.
The series will highlight how Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, popularly known as Salim-Javed, transformed Indian storytelling with their groundbreaking work in the 1970s. Their films, including Zanjeer, Sholay, and Deewar, not only captivated audiences but also introduced a new genre of cinematic heroism.
