Bollywood’s upcoming comedy project, Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, has found itself embroiled in legal controversy. A complaint has been filed against the film’s team for allegedly mocking lawyers and judges, leading to a legal battle in Ajmer.
According to reports, Chandrabhan Singh Rathod, the President of Ajmer District Bar Association, has lodged a complaint in a court in Ajmer, accusing the makers of Jolly LLB 3 of disrespecting the Indian judiciary system. The complaint alleges that the franchise portrays lawyers and judges in an inappropriate and humorous manner, tarnishing the image and prestige of the legal profession.
In his complaint, Chandrabhan highlighted scenes from the previous installments of Jolly LLB, citing instances of kicking a lawyer, chasing with a stick, a judge consuming ‘gutkha’ (a tobacco product), and depicting money transactions. He argued that such portrayals do not reflect the reality of the legal system and are not in line with the dignity of the judiciary.
The Ajmer District Bar Association has taken a strong stance against the film, filing an application in the court of Civil Judge Ajmer North to halt the shooting of Jolly LLB 3. They have requested the court to issue a notice regarding the matter, with the hearing scheduled for today.
Jolly LLB 3 sees Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi reprising their roles as lawyers, under the direction of Subhash Kapoor. The shooting for the film commenced in Ajmer on April 29, with the actors sharing a light-hearted video to mark the beginning of the project. In the video, Akshay humorously commented on the originality of their characters, hinting at an entertaining narrative.
