"Renowned Fashion Designer Rohit Bal Hospitalized in Critical Condition at Medanta Hospital"

Renowned fashion maestro Rohit Bal, 62, is currently hospitalized and in critical condition at Medanta Hospital, Delhi NCR, fighting a severe health battle. Sources reveal that the ace designer, known for his distinctive style and contributions to the fashion world, is on life support, connected to a ventilator since November 23.

Bal’s health crisis emerged due to his pre-existing cardiac condition. Sources close to the designer disclosed that model Suraj Dhalia rushed Bal to the hospital three days ago when he was found unconscious, with his heart failing. Reportedly, his pacemaker administered seven shocks to stabilize his condition. Initially admitted to Moolchand Hospital, his deteriorating state led to his transfer to Medanta Hospital.

A close friend shared insights into Bal’s health struggles, highlighting his history of health complications. The designer had previously battled a massive heart attack in 2010 and has been grappling with worsening pancreatitis over the years, necessitating frequent hospital visits.

Known in the fashion fraternity as “Gudda,” Bal’s friends expressed deep concern over his deteriorating health. “Gudda is a fighter, but his illness has taken a serious toll on him. We are praying for him,” mentioned a close associate to HT City.

Reports indicate Bal’s past struggles with alcohol abuse, leading to health issues. Last year in November, he was admitted to Medanta Hospital in critical condition, requiring medical intervention to address alcohol-related complications.

With an illustrious career spanning almost three decades, Bal garnered numerous accolades, including being named ‘Designer of the Year’ at international and Indian fashion awards. His distinct style earned him the moniker “India’s Master of fabric and fantasy” by Time Magazine.

In interviews, Bal emphasized his traditionalist approach to fashion, eschewing trends for timeless designs. Apart from his fashion prowess, he expanded his ventures into the culinary world, launching his restaurant ‘Veda’ in 2005.

Born on May 8, 1961, in Srinagar, Rohit Bal commenced his fashion journey in 1986, co-founding Orchid Oversea Pvt. Ltd before launching his independent collection in 1990. An alumnus of St. Stephens College and a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi, Bal’s creative genius reshaped the landscape of Indian fashion.

Bal’s current battle for survival has elicited concern and prayers from admirers, hoping for the recovery of the eminent designer who left an indelible mark on the fashion industry.
