Ranbir Kapoor’s latest offering, ‘Animal,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues its relentless stride at the Indian box office, inching closer to the coveted ₹500 crore mark. The film, featuring an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri alongside Ranbir, has been captivating audiences since its release.
According to a Sacnilk.com report, ‘Animal’ added a substantial ₹10 crore to its domestic box office collection on its 13th day, pushing its total earnings in India to an impressive ₹467.84 crore across all languages. This consistent performance underscores the film’s strong appeal among viewers.
Opening to a noteworthy ₹63.8 crore in all languages on December 1, ‘Animal’ maintained its momentum, garnering ₹10 crore on its 13th day, following a collection of ₹12.72 crore on its 12th day. Notably, the film surged into the ₹300 crore club within its first week, emerging as one of Ranbir’s most significant cinematic ventures.
Breaking down its language-wise collections, ‘Animal’ amassed ₹300.81 crore for its Hindi version alone in the first week, contributing significantly to its ₹337.58 crore total across all languages. The film’s pan-Indian release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages saw commendable collections in the first week, with Telugu contributing ₹33.45 crore, Tamil earning ₹2.73 crore, Kannada bringing in ₹52 lakh, and Malayalam adding ₹7 lakh to the overall collection.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar for T-Series, Murad Khetani for Cine1 Studios, and Pranay Reddy Vanga for Bhadrakali Pictures, ‘Animal’ hit theaters on December 1, 2023, facing off against Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur.’
While the film’s box office success has been undeniable, ‘Animal’ has faced criticism for its portrayal of extreme violence and themes of toxic masculinity, drawing disapproval from a segment of viewers and critics alike.
Set against a backdrop of crime, ‘Animal’ delves into the complex relationship between Anil Kapoor’s Balbir Singh and Ranbir Kapoor’s Ranvijay Singh (Vijay), exploring the dynamics of a troubled father-son relationship. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead opposite Ranbir, while Bobby Deol portrays the primary antagonist. The film also features Shakti Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Prithviraj, and Siddhant Karnick in pivotal roles.
Despite polarizing opinions, ‘Animal’ continues to make waves at the box office, leaving an indelible mark with its compelling narrative and powerhouse performances.
