After the recent box office releases of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ and Prabhas’ ‘Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire’, the numbers for ‘Animal’ have slightly declined. On its 22nd day, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film garnered ₹1.15 crore across all languages, according to a Sacnilk report. To date, the film portraying a complex father-son relationship, packed with intense action, has amassed a domestic total of ₹532.44 crore. Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s on-screen chemistry has been praised, along with the performances of Bobby Deol as Abrar Haque and Triptii Dimri as Zoya.
Despite its substantial box office success, ‘Animal’ faced criticism over a particular sequence where Ranbir Kapoor’s character engages in an extramarital affair with Zoya. Addressing these concerns, Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently explained to Galatta Plus, delving into the relationship dynamics depicted in the film.
“In relationships, once you’re committed to one person and share love with them, that bond remains for life. This could be the essence of Geetanjali and Ranvijay’s exchange. Knowing Geetanjali’s psyche, there’s an unsaid understanding,” Vanga elucidated. He added that Ranvijay’s reluctance for Geetanjali to remarry was personal, not a generalized feeling.
“His concern is about his children seeing Geetanjali with another father. It’s purely personal and has nothing to do with a general viewpoint,” Vanga clarified.
