The action-packed drama ‘Animal,’ spearheaded by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues its formidable stride at the global box office, surpassing the impressive milestone of ₹784 crore within a mere fortnight of its release on December 1. Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna headline this cinematic spectacle, captivating audiences worldwide with its intense narrative.
Celebrating this phenomenal success, the official account of the film, ‘Animal The Film,’ shared a poster on Friday, heralding its worldwide gross earnings of ₹784.45 crore in just 14 days. Describing it as a cinematic phenomenon, the post highlighted the relentless dominance of ‘Animal’ in the film arena.
Released across multiple languages—Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam—the movie boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Triptii Dimri, Suresh Oberoi, and Prem Chopra, augmenting its universal appeal.
While the movie enjoys a resounding reception at the box office, it hasn’t escaped criticism, with some critics and viewers denouncing its portrayal as misogynistic and excessively violent. Notably, the film received an A certificate from the CBFC in November and spans a runtime of three hours and 21 minutes, delving into a world brimming with aggression, framed against the tumultuous relationship between Ranbir’s character, Ranvijay Singh, and his father, Balbir Singh, essayed by Anil Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal as an obsessive son fiercely protective of his father’s legacy has stirred discussions, showcasing the character’s unwavering determination, often resorting to intimidation to safeguard familial ties.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series, Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, and Pranay Reddy Vanga’s Bhadrakali Pictures, ‘Animal’ faced the competitive landscape of the box office, engaging in a battle with Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur.’
Bobby Deol’s depiction of the antagonist, Abrar Haque, has garnered acclaim despite his brief appearance, with the actor shedding light on the character’s depth, describing him as a man haunted by childhood trauma, motivated by a vow to avenge his grandfather’s demise.
“I didn’t think of my character as a villain. I saw my character as a child who was traumatized when he saw his grandfather committing suicide, so he loses his voice. He swears to avenge his grandfather’s death. He is very family-oriented. He is also romantic, he has three wives. He can kill and also get killed for his family,” Bobby Deol expressed in an interview with AajTak.
As ‘Animal’ continues to stamp its authority at the box office, its compelling narrative and standout performances propel it closer to the coveted ₹800 crore mark, reaffirming its status as a commercial juggernaut in contemporary cinema.
