Sukumar’s action-packed sequel, “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” starring Allu Arjun, continues to dominate at the box office, both domestically and globally. The film amassed a staggering $92.75 million in its extended opening weekend, from December 5 to December 8, according to Variety.
The Telugu blockbuster surged past several Hollywood heavyweights, including John M Chu’s musical fantasy “Wicked,” featuring Ariana Grande, which collected $67.7 million worldwide over the same period. “Pushpa 2” now holds the second spot in the global box office rankings for the weekend, behind Disney’s animated musical “Moana 2,” which raked in an impressive $164.70 million.

A Milestone for Indian Cinema
“Pushpa 2: The Rule” is now the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 worldwide, trailing behind Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD,” which stands at $141 million, and Amar Kaushik’s Bollywood horror-comedy “Stree 2,” which has grossed $103 million globally.
