Maharaja, the Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap-starrer, continues to dominate the box office in its first week. Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, the film has been a strong performer in India. The film, produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under Passion Studios and The Route, tells the story of a simple barber and his deep love for his child. The opening week has been particularly successful for Maharaja, with impressive day-wise collections. The film earned ₹4.7 crore on its first day, with ₹3.6 crore from Tamil audiences and ₹1.1 crore from Telugu viewers. It saw a significant increase on the second day, earning ₹7.75 crore, followed by ₹9.4 crore on the third day. On its fourth day, Maharaja garnered ₹6.3 crore, leading to its current total surpassing the ₹30 crore mark.
Maharaja features an ensemble cast including Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli, and Kalki. The plot revolves around a barber’s devotion to his child, culminating in a dramatic turn when he finds himself at the police station to report the theft of Lakshmi.
