Actor Kalki Koechlin recently opened up about a different phase in her life when she explored polyamorous relationships, admitting that she once dated multiple people at the same time. In a candid interview with Hauterrfly, Kalki shared how, during her younger years, she wasn’t looking for long-term commitment or settling down.
A Look Back at Polyamory
Kalki Koechlin, who is now married to Israeli musician Guy Hershberg and a mother to their daughter, Sappho, discussed how her past relationships were shaped by a different mindset. Reflecting on her polyamorous experiences, she emphasized that, like monogamy, polyamory requires clear boundaries and mutual understanding between all parties involved.
“Monogamy is a choice, just like polyamory,” said Kalki, acknowledging that both relationship styles come with their own set of challenges. She emphasized the importance of setting strict rules and boundaries in polyamorous relationships to avoid complications. “The parties have to agree to those before getting into it,” she noted.
No Time for Polyamory Today
When asked if she could handle a polyamorous relationship today, Kalki was quick to say that her life has changed drastically since then. “Now that I am married and have a kid, I don’t think I got time for that sh*t, because you just don’t even have time to see your own partner,” she said with humor.
She also acknowledged that while some people manage to maintain long-term polyamorous relationships, complete with children and deep commitments, it wasn’t something she could imagine for herself at this stage of life. “For me, it was a very different period in my life, I was much younger. I wasn’t interested in settling down, so it was okay,” she explained.
Kalki’s Current Life and Career
Now settled with her family in Goa, Kalki continues to juggle her personal and professional life. She and her husband Guy Hershberg welcomed their daughter, Sappho, in 2020, and Kalki frequently travels between Goa, Mumbai, and other international destinations for her work.
On the acting front, Kalki was recently seen in the critically acclaimed film Goldfish, as well as the Ananya Panday-starrer Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. Despite her busy schedule, she appears content with her current chapter, far removed from the complexities of her past relationships.
