Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Pune to Ahmedabad were treated to an unexpected musical celebration when Captain Pradeep Krishnan turned the skies into a Coldplay concert. The flight was buzzing with excitement as hundreds of fans traveled to Gujarat for Coldplay’s record-breaking Music of the Spheres concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Moments before take-off, Captain Krishnan engaged with passengers, asking, “How many of you are going to the Coldplay concert?” A wave of cheers filled the cabin, followed by his witty question, “How many of you have two extra tickets?”
In the absence of tickets, the pilot created a magical moment mid-air. With the cabin lights dimmed, passengers lit up their phone flashlights, recreating Coldplay’s iconic A Sky Full of Stars ambiance. Captain Krishnan shared the heartwarming scene on his Instagram, captioning it: “No Coldplay tickets? No problem. We’ll have our own concert in the skies.” He praised the passengers for their enthusiasm, saying, “So much energy at 7 am – wow!”
The video quickly went viral on social media, garnering thousands of likes and comments. One user joked, “Looks like your private air Coldplay show,” while another called it “A plane full of stars.” Many applauded the airline for such an uplifting gesture.
The impromptu celebration came as fans flocked to Ahmedabad for Coldplay’s two-night concert, which marked the India leg of their Music of the Spheres tour. Held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the event attracted over 1.34 lakh fans, making it the most attended music concert in Asia in the 21st century.
Frontman Chris Martin, along with Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, and manager Phil Harvey, delivered a breathtaking performance filled with visual and musical brilliance. Chris Martin also delighted the audience by expressing gratitude in Hindi, saying, “Dhanyawaad pyaare doston” (Thank you, dear friends), and wished the crowd a Happy Republic Day.
For those unable to attend, the concert was streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar after tickets sold out within minutes. With Ahmedabad’s electrifying success, Coldplay concluded their India tour on a high note. The band will next perform in Hong Kong and South Korea in April.
