Inside Saif Ali Khan's ₹800 Crore Pataudi Palace: A Royal Blend of Heritage and Luxury

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan are known for their opulent lifestyle, and nothing exemplifies their royal heritage more than the Pataudi Palace. Also known as Ibrahim Kothi, this architectural marvel in Pataudi, Gurgaon district, Haryana, is valued at an astounding ₹800 crore. Spanning 10 acres, the palace is not just a residence but a slice of history and a symbol of Saif’s ancestral legacy.

A Historical Marvel with Regal Architecture

The Pataudi Palace was constructed in 1935 under the supervision of Iftikhar Ali Khan, the last ruling Nawab of Pataudi. It was designed by British architect Robert Tor Russell and Australian architect Carl Moltiz Von Hentz, blending regal Mughal elements with colonial aesthetics. Originally built as a symbol of power and elegance, it remains a testament to royal grandeur.

Saif Ali Khan inherited the palace after the passing of his father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the legendary cricketer and the last Nawab of Pataudi. However, to reclaim full ownership, Saif had to buy it back from Neemrana Hotels, which operated it as a luxury property until 2014.

A Palace Like No Other

The sprawling Pataudi Palace boasts 150 rooms, including seven lavish bedrooms, seven dressing rooms, seven billiard rooms, a grand dining area, and multi-purpose spaces. Other standout features include an outdoor pool, a farming area, and the iconic Durbar Hall.

The interiors are a harmonious mix of vintage charm and royal opulence, featuring antique furniture, soaring ceilings, vintage chandeliers, and priceless artwork. Walls adorned with family portraits pay homage to the Pataudi lineage, offering a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era.

A Family Retreat

Saif and Kareena frequently retreat to the palace to unwind from their busy lives. Their children, Taimur and Jeh, are often seen enjoying the palace’s vast outdoor areas. Photos shared by the couple on social media showcase their royal yet relatable family moments in this historical home.

A Cinematic Treasure

The Pataudi Palace has also served as a picturesque backdrop for numerous Bollywood films and projects. Iconic movies such as Rang De Basanti, Veer-Zaara, and Animal were filmed here, showcasing the palace’s timeless beauty on the silver screen.

A Legacy Preserved

For Saif Ali Khan, the Pataudi Palace is more than a luxurious property—it is a connection to his late father and a testament to his family’s rich legacy. Speaking to Vogue India, Saif called the palace a symbol of heritage and a place deeply rooted in memories.

Conclusion

The Pataudi Palace remains an architectural gem and a living piece of Indian history. Its timeless charm, rich heritage, and royal significance make it not just a home but a treasure trove of stories, luxury, and culture.
