The political landscape in Andhra Pradesh witnessed a heated exchange as the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) denounced the alleged dissemination of a fabricated government order pertaining to the release of the biopic ‘Yatra 2’. In a scathing rebuke aimed at rival parties, namely the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party, the YSRCP refuted claims suggesting government endorsement for the screening of the film in theaters.
Addressing the issue via a post on X, the YSR Congress Party clarified, “The news that the government has put out GO on Yatra 2 movie is untrue. This is totally fake news… Shame on you @JaiTDP @JanaSenaParty to spread such false news!” The party urged citizens to remain vigilant against the dissemination of misinformation and urged them to be wary of false narratives propagated by opposition parties.
Furthermore, the YSRCP shared the purported government order related to the screening of ‘Yatra 2’ and labeled it as fraudulent, emphasizing the need for factual accuracy amidst a surge of misinformation. This development underscores the intensifying political rivalry in the region, with conflicting narratives vying for public attention and support.
Adding fuel to the fire, reports emerged of a skirmish during the screening of the movie at Prasads Multiplex in Hyderabad, involving factions affiliated with the Jana Sena Party and the YSRCP. The altercation prompted theater authorities to suspend the screening, underscoring the volatile atmosphere surrounding the film’s release.
Despite the controversy, the YSRCP has actively promoted ‘Yatra 2’ through its official channels on X, showcasing party workers engaging in celebratory activities near theaters screening the film. Directed by Mahi V Raghav, the movie serves as a sequel to the 2019 biographical drama ‘Yatra’, chronicling the enduring legacy of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
As the political drama unfolds both on and off-screen, the release of ‘Yatra 2’ marks another chapter in the ongoing saga of power struggles and ideological clashes gripping Andhra Pradesh. Amidst the fervent political discourse, the film’s portrayal of YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s life and legacy serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of political leaders on the collective consciousness of the state’s populace.
