In its fourth day at the box office, Yami Gautam starrer “Article 370” saw a slight dip in earnings, yet maintained a commendable performance, garnering ₹3.25 crore nett in India on its first Monday since release. The film, which hit the theaters globally on February 23, has accumulated a total of ₹26.15 crore in India so far, as reported by Sacnilk.com.
Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, “Article 370” revolves around the revocation of Article 370, a significant constitutional provision that conferred special privileges to Jammu and Kashmir. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the region, the film portrays the emergence of terrorism and the government’s efforts to counter it.
Yami Gautam portrays the character of Zooni Haksar, an intelligence officer entrusted with a crucial mission in Kashmir. Alongside Gautam, the film features Priyamani, Arun Govil, and Kiran Karmarkar in pivotal roles. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar, the film is backed by Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar’s banner B62 Studios.
“We had full faith in the film striking the right chords and finding favor with the audience,” Yami Gautam expressed in an interview with news agency ANI. “A common refrain in the congratulatory messages that I have been receiving since our film hit theaters is that the youth should watch it as there’s no propaganda in it,” she added.
Despite a slight decline in earnings on Monday, the film continues to draw positive reviews from audiences. Yami Gautam’s portrayal of Zooni Haksar coupled with the gripping narrative has garnered acclaim from viewers.
With its compelling storyline and powerful performances, “Article 370” stands as a thought-provoking cinematic experience, shedding light on the complex socio-political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. As the film progresses in its theatrical run, it remains to be seen how it further resonates with audiences across the country.
