Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal to Marry in Civil Ceremony, No Religious Rituals Involved

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and actor Zaheer Iqbal are all set to tie the knot this month. Ahead of their much-anticipated wedding, Zaheer’s father, Iqbal Ratansi, has put to rest any speculation about Sonakshi converting to Islam post-marriage. In a conversation with the Free Press Journal, Ratansi confirmed that the wedding would be a civil ceremony without any Hindu or Muslim rituals.

“It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage,” Ratansi stated, emphasizing that the union is based on love and not religion. “She is not converting and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi,” he added.

The wedding preparations are in full swing, and Shashi Ranjan, a close friend of Sonakshi’s father, Shatrughan Sinha, recently shared updates with ETimes. “She (Sonakshi) is getting married to the man with whom she is in love. Everybody is participating, Shatru ji’s brothers are also coming from America for the wedding. The registered marriage will take place at Zaheer Iqbal’s house. It is a very happy moment for me and the family,” Ranjan revealed.

Shatrughan Sinha, the veteran actor and politician, also confirmed his presence at the wedding, dismissing false reports that he would not attend. In an interview with Zoom, he expressed his pride and affection for his daughter. “Tell me, whose life is it anyway? It’s just the life of my only daughter Sonakshi, whom I am very proud of and immensely fond of. She calls me the pillar of her strength. I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I?” he said.

“The very fact that I have still been in Mumbai conveys that I am here not only as her pillar of strength but as her real kavach (armour) as well. Sonakshi and Zaheer have to live life together. They look very nice together,” he added, highlighting the couple’s strong bond.

As the wedding date approaches, fans and well-wishers of the couple are eagerly looking forward to the joyous occasion, celebrating the union of two hearts beyond the boundaries of religion.
