Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi, the newlyweds who recently tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Italy’s Tuscany on November 1, have found themselves in the midst of a rumor mill. Reports circulated that the rights to their wedding videos had been sold to Netflix for a whopping ₹8 crore. However, Varun Tej’s team has promptly responded to these rumors, categorically dismissing them as baseless.
In a statement issued by Varun Tej’s team, they stated, “The ongoing speculations around the OTT rights of Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi’s wedding are completely baseless and untrue. Requesting everyone not to believe in such rumors and spread them.” The statement was shared by Vamsi Shekhar, a well-known public relations professional, on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The rumor had suggested that Netflix had secured the streaming rights for Varun and Lavanya’s wedding video. This move by Netflix would not have been unprecedented, as the streaming giant had previously acquired the rights to wedding videos of other celebrities, including Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, who got married in June last year. However, it remains unclear whether the deal was actually struck or if it is currently on hold.
Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi’s wedding was a star-studded event attended by close friends and family, with notable figures from the Telugu film industry, including Chiranjeevi and other luminaries, gracing the occasion. The wedding, held in Borgo San Felice in Tuscany, followed Hindu customs. Official wedding photos and snapshots from various wedding functions were unveiled to the public in the past week.
A grand reception was organized in Hyderabad to celebrate their union, attended by prominent names in Telugu cinema, such as Chiranjeevi, Naga Chaitanya, Venkatesh, and others. The celebration took place at the N Convention Center in Hyderabad.
Following the ceremonies in Italy and the reception in Hyderabad, it is reported that the couple has plans for another reception in Dehradun, a city of significance to Lavanya, where they will gather with their closest friends to continue the celebrations.
