Triptii Dimri Exits Aashiqui 3: Dispute Over Casting Sparks Controversy

Triptii Dimri, who was set to star opposite Kartik Aaryan in the much-anticipated film Aashiqui 3, is no longer part of the project. While the exact reason behind her departure remains unclear, conflicting reports suggest a mix of scheduling conflicts, creative differences, and casting preferences.

Triptii’s Exit Linked to Delays

Reports initially suggested that Dimri chose to leave the project voluntarily due to repeated delays in production. According to Mid-Day, the film’s indefinite postponement following a title-related dispute caused the actor to withdraw. A source quoted in the report stated, “Triptii was excited to headline the romance, but that’s not going to happen now. Aashiqui 3 is undergoing a title-related dispute and has been postponed indefinitely.”

Makers Opt for a ‘Fresher Face’?

Contradicting these claims, an industry insider alleged that it was the makers who decided to replace Dimri. “The fundamental requirement to be the heroine of Aashiqui 3 is innocence reflecting through,” the source explained. They argued that Dimri’s recent work, particularly her role in Animal, had altered her image, making her less suitable for the role.

The insider further claimed that her box office track record, coupled with her evolving on-screen persona, prompted the decision. “Aashiqui is a legendary, soulful love story, and the makers do not see Triptii fitting the parameters,” the source added.

A Mix of Reasons?

Sources from the industry suggest that the truth may lie somewhere in between. Dimri’s reluctance to wait for the film’s delayed production timeline and the makers’ preference for a fresh face both appear to have played a role. When she was originally cast, Triptii was a relative newcomer, but since then, she has appeared in two films, altering her perceived image.

Production Challenges Behind the Delay

Aashiqui 3, directed by Anurag Basu, has faced significant delays since its announcement. Initially co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt, the project underwent changes when Kumar took sole production responsibility in March 2024 and renamed the film Tu Aashiqui Hai. However, reports emerged in November that Kartik Aaryan wanted to retain its association with the Aashiqui franchise, further delaying production.

No Official Statements Yet

Neither Dimri nor the film’s producers have issued an official statement regarding her exit, leaving fans and industry insiders speculating. With the production timeline and casting still uncertain, the fate of Aashiqui 3 remains unclear.

About Aashiqui 3

The third installment in the iconic Aashiqui franchise promises to carry forward its legacy as a soulful love story. Kartik Aaryan remains attached as the male lead, and the project continues to be one of the most awaited films under Bhushan Kumar’s banner.
