Triptii Dimri Welcomes Laila Majnu Re-Release: "A Second Chance for Our Film"

Actor Triptii Dimri is thrilled about the nationwide re-release of her debut film Laila Majnu, which first premiered six years ago. The film, directed by Sajid Ali and co-starring Avinash Tiwary, initially struggled at the box office but has since gained a significant following and emotional resonance with audiences.

The announcement of the film’s re-release was made on July 28, with the film first being shown in Kashmir on August 2, followed by a nationwide release on August 9. Imtiaz Ali, the film’s producer, shared the news on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the enduring love that has brought Laila Majnu back to theaters. “Back on popular demand. Laila Majnu back on popular demand!!! Gratitude to your love that pulled it into theatres again after six years!! Re-releasing 9th Aug ‘24 in cinemas nationwide (check picture) congratulations team LM,” Ali posted.

Triptii Dimri, reflecting on the film’s journey, shared her excitement and emotional response to the re-release. She remarked on the film’s growing popularity and the joy of seeing it in theaters again. “When the film released, you expect a reaction similar to what we are seeing now. All of us who had worked on the film knew how and what it was. Sadly, back then people didn’t watch it. We got so much love from people when it dropped on OTT,” Dimri said.

Laila Majnu tells the modern-day adaptation of a classic love story, focusing on star-crossed lovers separated by familial obstacles. Dimri expressed her gratitude and happiness at the film’s resurgence, noting that it has been consistently celebrated by fans over the years. “All these years since the release of Laila Majnu, I have received messages from fans every single day. We are all very happy that the film is getting so much love now and it is re-releasing across India. I love that people are celebrating Laila Majnu now, as we felt bad when it didn’t happen earlier. I am and everyone is overwhelmed and emotional. I believe it was houseful in theatres in Kashmir. This is a second chance for our film and not every film gets that. We are grateful and blessed,” she added.

The re-release of Laila Majnu marks a special moment for Dimri and the film’s team, offering a chance for new and old audiences alike to experience the heartfelt story on the big screen once more.
