Tharun Moorthy’s Malayalam film Thudarum, starring superstar Mohanlal and veteran actress Sobhana, has achieved a major milestone at the box office. As per the latest report from Sacnilk, the film has crossed the coveted ₹100 crore mark in India, standing strong even on its 18th day in theatres.
Released to glowing reviews, Thudarum has become a box office sensation. The film collected ₹2.24 crore on its 18th day alone, pushing its total earnings to ₹100.92 crore. It earned ₹51.4 crore in its opening week and sustained its momentum into the second week with ₹35.35 crore, fueled by overwhelmingly positive word of mouth.
The film has now cemented its place in Malayalam cinema history by becoming the highest-grossing film ever in Kerala and the third-highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. On Monday, it recorded an impressive 31.74% Malayalam occupancy, a testament to its continued popularity.
Thudarum follows the heartwarming and thrilling story of Shanmugham ‘Benz’, a humble taxi driver whose life turns upside down when his beloved car goes missing. The narrative explores the emotional and physical journey he undertakes to find his car. The film is especially notable for bringing Mohanlal and Sobhana back together on screen after nearly 15 years, adding to the excitement and nostalgia for fans.
