Tamil actor and YouTube sensation Bijili Ramesh has passed away following a prolonged illness. The actor’s death was confirmed by his family, and his funeral is scheduled to take place in Chennai on Tuesday. Ramesh, who had been in intensive care in recent days, succumbed to health complications related to his liver.
Ramesh, known for his online prank videos that gained him widespread attention in 2018, made his film debut with the 2019 movie Natpe Thunai. Despite his rising popularity, Ramesh faced significant health challenges in recent months. His condition deteriorated, and his family had earlier appealed for financial aid from colleagues to support his medical treatment. Many had contributed, but the costs remained burdensome.
In a heartfelt video message before his death, Ramesh expressed his long-standing wish to act alongside his idol, Rajinikanth. He shared, “I wanted to act with everyone in films. But I couldn’t. Especially my leader, Rajini (Rajinikanth). My biggest wish was to act with Rajini sir. But that didn’t happen.”
Bijili Ramesh’s health had been failing due to severe liver issues exacerbated by alcoholism. His wife recently disclosed in an interview that Ramesh’s liver had failed, and despite treatment at multiple hospitals, his condition worsened. She revealed that doctors had suggested a liver transplant, but the family lacked the financial resources for such an operation. “We begged the doctors to save his life. They said, ‘We’re watching as much as we can. Pray to God more’,” she said, adding that a private transplant would cost around ₹60 lakh, a sum far beyond their means.
The actor’s passing has drawn condolences from fans and colleagues alike, who remember him for his dedication to his craft and his unwavering admiration for Rajinikanth. Ramesh’s legacy will be remembered both for his contributions to Tamil cinema and his vibrant presence on social media.
