Actress Tamannaah Bhatia recently addressed a question about her casting in the supernatural thriller Odela 2, where she plays the role of a sadhvi. During a press meet for the film, she was asked about her portrayal of a divine figure despite being popularly labeled as the ‘milky beauty’ of the industry. Responding firmly, Tamannaah emphasized that divinity and glamour can coexist, and women should celebrate all aspects of their identity.
Tamannaah’s Response to the ‘Milky Beauty’ Label
Reacting to the question, Tamannaah said, “You are calling me a milky beauty, but why did you assume that someone with this label cannot play Shiva Shakti? Your question itself holds the answer. Director Ashok Teja does not see a woman’s beauty as something to be ashamed of or criticized. Glamour in a woman should be celebrated, and we as women must celebrate ourselves before expecting others to respect us.”
She further added, “Here, we have a wonderful filmmaker who looks at women as divine. Divinity can be glamorous, powerful, and lethal. A woman can embody many things.”
About Odela 2
Odela 2 takes a supernatural approach compared to its predecessor Odela Railway Station, which was a crime thriller. The film follows Tamannaah’s character, Shiva Shakti, who arrives in the village of Odela—protected by the deity Odela Mallanna Swamy—to battle an evil force that claims to control the five elements.
The film also features Hebah Patel, the female lead from the original, along with Vasishta N Simha, Yuva, Naga Mahesh, Vamshi, Gagan Vihari, Surender Reddy, Bhupal, and Pooja Reddy. At the teaser launch last month, the team revealed that Tamannaah studied the body language of sadhus to prepare for her role.
