Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu recently tied the knot with her longtime partner, badminton player Mathias Boe, in a private ceremony in Udaipur. In a candid interview with HT City, Pannu shared the details of her wedding, including why she opted for a non-traditional bridal look and chose her college friend to design her outfits.
Unlike many celebrity brides, Taapsee Pannu decided to forego the conventional lehenga and instead embraced a traditional salwar kameez paired with juttis for her wedding day. She explained that her upbringing around Sikh Gurudwara weddings influenced her choice, preferring the timeless elegance of a red salwar kameez with intricate kinari detailing on the border.
Pannu revealed that she chose her college friend, Mani Bhatia, to design all her bridal outfits. This decision was partly driven by her desire to keep the wedding details private and avoid leaks that often accompany collaborations with big-name designers in the industry.
For the haldi ceremony, Taapsee opted for a vintage Punjabi style, donning a lungi paired with a kurta reminiscent of the iconic look from ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ). Her sangeet attire featured bellbottom-styled pants with embellished work on the top and jacket, accessorized with diamond solitaires. The wedding ensemble included a traditional Punjabi saggi phull (hair accessory) and delicate jewelry passed down from her grandmother.
One of Pannu’s priorities was to enjoy dancing freely during the celebrations, which influenced her decision to skip heavy lehengas. She expressed her joy in being able to dance without restrictions across all wedding functions.
Taapsee Pannu’s wedding style reflects her personal preferences, blending tradition with a touch of nostalgia and practicality. By choosing a close friend as her designer and opting for comfortable yet elegant outfits, she created a wedding experience that was intimate, unique, and true to her own sense of style.
