Suriya Makes Blink-and-Miss Cameo in Akshay Kumar's Sarfira Trailer, Acknowledges Sudha Kongara's Storytelling

The trailer for Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated film Sarfira has taken social media by storm since its release. The movie, a Hindi remake of the Tamil hit Soorarai Pottru, prominently features Suriya in a brief yet impactful cameo. Sharing the trailer on his Instagram, Suriya expressed gratitude to Akshay Kumar for bringing Sudha Kongara’s story to a wider audience.

“This is our respect to Captain GR Gopinath Sir, who inspired millions of Indians,” Suriya mentioned in his caption, acknowledging the real-life figure who served as the inspiration behind the narrative. He added, “Thank you Akshay Kumar sir for taking Sudha Kongara’s story across our country and beyond! Proudly presenting the trailer of Sarfira.” Suriya had previously shared his excitement about the project, reminiscing about his time on the sets and the joy of seeing the story come alive again.

Soorarai Pottru, the original Tamil film, was a major success, winning several accolades at the 68th National Film Awards. Suriya’s performance earned him the Best Actor Award, while Aparna Balamurali received the Best Actress prize. The film also clinched awards for Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Background Score. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Soorarai Pottru delved into the inspiring journey of Simplify Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.
