Ajay Devgn and Jyotika Starrer "Shaitaan" Continues to Soar at the Box Office, Crossing ₹ 61 Crore Mark

In a remarkable display of box office prowess, the supernatural thriller “Shaitaan,” starring Ajay Devgn and Jyotika, has amassed a staggering ₹ 61 crore at the domestic box office, marking a significant milestone in its cinematic journey.

Directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by a collaborative effort from industry stalwarts including Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak, “Shaitaan” has captivated audiences since its release. Despite a slight dip in collections on its first Monday, with earnings totaling ₹ 7 crore, the film’s cumulative performance has been nothing short of impressive.

Inspired by the 2023 Gujarati film “Vash,” “Shaitaan” intricately weaves a tale of suspense and intrigue, portraying a family ensnared by a malevolent force wielding supernatural powers. The ensemble cast, featuring Ajay Devgn as Kabeer, Janki Bodiwala as Janvi, and Jyotika in a pivotal role as Jyoti, has garnered widespread acclaim for their compelling performances.

Notably, R Madhavan’s portrayal of the antagonist, Vanraaj Kashyap, has received widespread appreciation, adding depth and intensity to the narrative.

Renowned Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X to herald the film’s success, emphasizing its stellar performance across various audience demographics. He highlighted the film’s impressive opening weekend figures, with collections surpassing ₹ 55 crore, indicating a resounding victory for the supernatural thriller genre.

However, not all reviews have been glowing. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee critiqued “Shaitaan,” awarding it 1.5 out of 5 stars and citing inconsistencies in tone and character development. Despite the mixed critical reception, Jyotika’s performance was lauded for its nuanced portrayal amidst the film’s tumultuous narrative.

As “Shaitaan” continues to captivate audiences across metros and Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities alike, its resounding success serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of gripping storytelling and compelling performances in Indian cinema. With its box office trajectory showing no signs of slowing down, the film’s producers and cast members can celebrate a triumphant cinematic outing that has firmly entrenched “Shaitaan” as a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
