Sunny Deol in Talks to Portray Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Adaptation

In a casting development that has captured the attention of Bollywood enthusiasts, veteran actor Sunny Deol is reportedly in discussions to play the role of Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s forthcoming adaptation of the epic saga, Ramayana. Tiwari’s ambitious trilogy already boasts an impressive cast with Ranbir Kapoor set to portray Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash taking on the formidable character of Ravana.

Sources close to the project have revealed that the idea of casting Sunny Deol as Hanuman aligns perfectly with the character’s essence, symbolizing strength and devotion. The actor, known for his powerful performances, has expressed keen interest in being part of Nitesh Tiwari’s rendition of the timeless epic. However, it is emphasized that discussions are still in the early stages, hinting at the potential for this casting coup.

The adaptation of Ramayana is a collaborative effort, co-produced by Nitesh Tiwari, Madhu Mantena, Namit Malhotra, and Allu Aravind. Reports suggest that all four co-producers are not only on board with the idea of Sunny Deol portraying Hanuman in the Ramayana trilogy but are also exploring the concept of a spin-off centered around this iconic character. The prospect of a separate narrative arc dedicated to Hanuman has sparked the actor’s enthusiasm for the project.

The scope of Ramayana extends beyond the trilogy, with Nitesh Tiwari’s vision encompassing a standalone film that delves deeper into Lord Hanuman’s multifaceted life. While the idea is captivating, it requires various elements to align, including shooting schedules, commitments to potential franchise spin-offs, and financial arrangements.

The Ramayana trilogy is anticipated to commence filming in February of the upcoming year, generating considerable excitement among fans eagerly awaiting this cinematic interpretation of the revered epic.

Interestingly, Sunny Deol’s connection to the Ramayana goes beyond this potential project. Anil Sharma, the director of Sunny’s 2001 blockbuster, “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” recently revealed that the film drew inspiration from the Ramayana. Sharma explained that the first “Gadar” was, in essence, a modern-day retelling of the Ramayana, resonating with audiences due to its timeless themes.

While the possibility of Sunny Deol embodying Hanuman in the Ramayana adaptation generates buzz, fans can also look forward to his upcoming project, “Lahore 1947,” further showcasing the actor’s diverse and captivating performances on the big screen.
