Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi star in Amar Kaushik’s highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit Stree.
Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy Stree 2 has set the box office on fire, earning a whopping Rs 106.5 crore in just two days. The film, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, enjoyed a stellar start with special opening premieres on Wednesday that raked in Rs 8.5 crore, setting the stage for a successful release.
On its opening day, Stree 2 grossed an impressive Rs 76.5 crore, further solidifying its status as a box office juggernaut. The film maintained its momentum on the second day, adding Rs 30 crore to its earnings, bringing the total to Rs 106.5 crore, according to Sacnilk. However, this marks a 42.08% drop in collections compared to its opening day.
The film’s occupancy rate also saw a change, with the second day recording an overall occupancy of 37.46%. The first day, coinciding with a holiday, witnessed a higher occupancy rate of 77.09% in the Hindi market. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 follows the story of the sinister Sarkata haunting the people of Chanderi, who once again turn to Stree for help. The film also features surprise star cameos from Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Varun Dhawan.
Stree 2 is a significant part of producer Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe, which began with Stree in 2018 and includes other popular films like Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. Released earlier this year with minimal promotion, Munjya earned Rs 107.48 crore during its theatrical run, making it the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year after Fighter (Rs 199.45 crore) and Shaitaan (Rs 149.49 crore).
As Stree 2 continues to dominate the box office, all eyes are on how far this horror-comedy sequel will go in its theatrical run. With strong performances and a gripping storyline, the film is poised to become one of the biggest hits of the year.
