Sonu Nigam Stops Concert Midway After Stones, Bottles Thrown at Him During College Fest

Renowned Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam was forced to halt his performance midway at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025 after stones and bottles were thrown at the stage. The shocking incident took place on Sunday in front of a massive crowd of over one lakh students.

Sonu Nigam Appeals for Calm

As the situation turned chaotic, Sonu Nigam urged the audience to refrain from such unruly behavior, emphasizing that it was putting his team in danger. “Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye (I have come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please don’t do this),” he pleaded, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

Viral Videos Show the Incident

Several videos of the incident surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In some clips, Sonu Nigam was seen performing while interacting with the crowd. A pink bunny hairband was also tossed at him, which he playfully wore during his performance. However, as the misbehavior escalated, he had to pause the show.

Not the First Time

This is not the first time Sonu Nigam has faced such an incident during a live concert. Earlier this year, he was involved in a similar controversy at a concert in Kolkata, where he lost his temper at an unruly audience. A viral video from that event showed him shouting at the crowd, asking them to remain seated. At one point, he even remarked sarcastically, “Agar aapko khade hona hai toh election mein khade ho jaao yaar (If you want to stand, stand in elections).”

Sonu Nigam’s IIFA Jibe

Apart from live performances, Sonu Nigam recently made headlines for taking a jibe at the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards committee, expressing disappointment over not receiving a nomination this year.
