Former Bollywood actress and women’s rights activist Somy Ali, who was romantically linked to Salman Khan in the 1990s, has made headlines with her latest social media post. Somy has extended an invitation to notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi for a Zoom call, addressing him directly from her Instagram account on Thursday. Currently incarcerated at Sabarmati Central Jail, Bishnoi has reportedly been able to make Zoom calls despite his imprisonment.
Somy Ali’s Direct Message to Lawrence Bishnoi
In her Instagram post, Somy shared a picture of Lawrence Bishnoi and wrote a caption addressing him in Hindi, stating:
“Namaste, Lawrence bhai. I’ve heard and seen that you are able to make Zoom calls from jail, so I want to talk to you. Rajasthan is my favorite place in the world, and I want to visit your temple for prayer, but let’s first have a Zoom call. Trust me, this conversation will be for your own good. Please share your mobile number; I would be very grateful.”
Her post attracted attention due to the ongoing tensions surrounding Salman Khan and Bishnoi, who has previously been linked to threats against the Bollywood superstar.
Somy’s Plea to the Bishnoi Community
This isn’t the first time Somy Ali has addressed the situation. In a previous interview with Hindustan Times in May, she appealed to the Bishnoi community to forgive Salman Khan for past incidents, including the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The Bishnoi community, known for their dedication to wildlife protection, has long sought justice for the killing of the endangered blackbuck, with Lawrence Bishnoi emerging as a vocal figure against Salman.
In her interview, Somy said, “I don’t support hunting, but this incident happened many years ago when Salman was much younger. If you are attempting to kill someone or fire bullets at him, then you are crossing the line. I want to appeal to the Bishnoi community to forgive Salman and move on. Taking someone’s life is not the answer, whether it is Salman or an average person.”
She also expressed her belief in the Indian judicial system, emphasizing that justice should be sought through the courts rather than violence. “Whatever happened in the past cannot be undone. Let bygones be bygones,” she added, urging reconciliation.
The Salman Khan-Bishnoi Controversy
The tension between Salman Khan and the Bishnoi community stems from the blackbuck poaching case of 1998, where Salman was accused of hunting the protected species during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan. While Salman has been entangled in legal battles related to the case for decades, the situation escalated with Lawrence Bishnoi’s alleged threats to the actor’s life.
Somy Ali, who dated Salman in the 1990s before their breakup in 1999, has frequently defended him, despite maintaining that their relationship was troubled. Her recent attempt to engage directly with Lawrence Bishnoi highlights her efforts to defuse the ongoing feud.
