Television actress Dipika Kakar has been diagnosed with a tumour in her liver, which her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, revealed in a recent vlog. The tumour, reportedly the size of a tennis ball, has left the couple in shock.
Dipika, who recently made her television comeback on the first season of Celebrity MasterChef India after a five-year hiatus, had voluntarily exited the show citing health issues. Her husband Shoaib has now shared the details of her condition and ongoing treatment.
In his vlog, Shoaib recounted the series of events leading up to the diagnosis. “Dipika is not well, I think there is a stomach issue. When I was in Chandigarh, Dipika started having pain in her stomach and initially we thought it was due to acidity,” he said.
The pain persisted, prompting Dipika to consult their family doctor, who had also treated Shoaib’s father in the past. After prescribing antibiotics and ordering blood tests, the doctor initially suspected an infection. Shoaib shared that Dipika’s condition seemed to improve temporarily until after their father’s birthday, when her symptoms returned.
“Meanwhile the blood test reports came, which indicated that she had infection in her body,” Shoaib explained. “Our doctor asked us to visit again and when we met him he asked us to do a CT scan and it showed that Dipika has a tumour in the left lobe of her liver. It is bigger in size like a tennis ball. It was very shocking for us.”
While the initial tests suggest that the tumour is benign, Shoaib said they are awaiting more crucial reports that will determine the future course of treatment. Dipika has been advised by doctors to get admitted to a hospital for further medical evaluation and care.
Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, who tied the knot in February 2018 in Bhopal, are parents to a son named Ruhaan. The couple has received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities, who are hoping for Dipika’s speedy recovery.
