In a recent interview with Times Now, actor Shilpa Shinde has publicly defended Asim Riaz following his ouster from the popular adventure reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. Riaz, a former contestant of Bigg Boss, was removed from the show after a heated argument with host Rohit Shetty and fellow contestants.
Shinde, who has previously worked with Riaz, accused the show’s producers and contestants of bullying and instigating him. “Kuch bhi nahin hua tha. Aap ke sar paani chala jata hai. Down-to-earth hona chahiya. Ek banda ek taraf aur baki ek jhoondh hai, usko bhadkaya gaya as they knew his nature,” Shinde stated. She elaborated that Riaz was unfairly provoked and ganged up against, which she believes led to his unfortunate exit.
According to Shinde, the root of the problem was a task involving Riaz, Aashish Mehrotra, and Niyati Fatnan. Riaz struggled with the task, and while Mehrotra and Fatnan completed it successfully, Riaz’s frustration escalated. He criticized the challenge, expressing disbelief at its difficulty and even challenged the show’s team to perform it in front of him. In response, Rohit Shetty showed Riaz a rehearsal video proving the task’s feasibility and reprimanded him for his behavior.
Shinde criticized Riaz’s reaction, suggesting that his behavior was influenced by his past experiences on Bigg Boss, where he was known for his assertive demeanor. “He wanted to share his experience and the pain he has gone through. Usko zyada bolne ki aadat hai. Usko chup karana padta hai. Uske bolne ka andaaz galat ho sakata hai,” Shinde added. She emphasized that while Riaz was not aggressive, his talkative nature might have contributed to the situation escalating.
The dispute culminated in Riaz being asked to leave the show after a stern warning from Shetty. Rohit Shetty addressed Riaz’s conduct, saying, “Kal bhi tune bahot bakwaas ki. Sun meri baat sunle warna mei utha ke yahi patak dunga. Aise mere se badtameezi nahi karna.” (Yesterday also you said a lot of nonsense. Listen to me, otherwise I will thrash you here. Don’t behave badly here).”
Shinde concluded that the incident should have been resolved without such drastic measures and expressed regret that Riaz’s departure was handled in such a manner. Her comments have sparked discussions about the dynamics of reality television and the treatment of contestants on such platforms.
