"Shilpa Shetty's 'Sukhee' Sees Modest Opening Day at ₹30 Lakh in India"

Shilpa Shetty’s much-anticipated film, ‘Sukhee,’ directed by debutant Sonal Joshi, has had a modest opening at the domestic box office. The film, which premiered on Friday, managed to earn ₹30 lakh nett in India on its very first day of release, as per preliminary data. While the initial response was lukewarm, ‘Sukhee’ is hoping for a better performance on Saturday, with an estimated collection of ₹40 lakh, according to reports from Sacnilk.com.

‘Sukhee’ is a unique cinematic endeavor that features Chaitanya Chaudhary playing the role of Shilpa Shetty’s husband. The film also includes a talented ensemble cast, with Amit Sadh, Kiran Kumar, and Kusha Kapila playing pivotal roles. ‘Sukhee’ explores themes of patriarchy and women’s empowerment, infusing them with a touch of comedy.

Marking Sonal Joshi’s directorial debut, ‘Sukhee’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Shikhaa Sharma. The screenplay for the film was penned by Paulomi Dutta, based on a story written by Radhika Anand.

In a review by the Hindustan Times, ‘Sukhee’ was described as a “slice-of-life story, light-hearted comedy, but deep down, it strikes an emotional chord.” The film encourages viewers to believe that there is a bit of “Sukhee” in all of us, and while it might not be easy for many women to make the choices that Sukhee does, her journey becomes a showcase of strength and courage. While it’s not quite in the league of films like ‘Thappad,’ it finds its own way to convey the importance of self-respect. Comparisons were also drawn with ‘English Vinglish,’ although ‘Sukhee’ stands as a unique narrative in its own right.

Shilpa Shetty, in discussing her role in ‘Sukhee,’ stated, “I think an actor is always waiting to try something different, and Sukhee’s character is something I’ve never done before. She is bold, fearless, and unabashed in her youth, and the transformation she undergoes is beautiful.” She further added, “This is a story of relationships, a family film, and a story of friendship. I believe it’s a movie that will bring happiness, provoke thought, and entertain audiences.”

As ‘Sukhee’ continues its journey in cinemas, it remains to be seen how it will fare at the box office and whether it can pick up momentum in the coming days. Shilpa Shetty’s portrayal of Sukhee promises a fresh perspective, making the film an intriguing watch for audiences.
