The horror comedy film “Munjya” continues to dazzle at the box office, grossing over ₹100 crore in India within just 17 days of its release. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films, the movie stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.
On Monday, the makers of “Munjya” proudly announced the film’s remarkable success, revealing that it had collected ₹103 crore domestically. According to Maddock Films, the movie earned ₹87.31 crore nett, marking a significant achievement in its box office journey.
In a tweet, Maddock Films expressed their gratitude to the audience for the film’s historic third weekend and encouraged fans to experience the entertainer firsthand. “Munjya” is set in Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe and is based on the mythical creature of the same name from Marathi folklore. The storyline revolves around Munjya and his disruptive impact on Bittu’s life, portrayed by Abhay Verma. Mona Singh plays Pummy, a single working mother fiercely protective of Bittu. The film also features Suhas Joshi, Ajay Purkar, and Bhagyashree Limaye in supporting roles.
The success of “Munjya” adds to the anticipation for the next installment in Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe, “Stree 2,” scheduled for release on August 15. The sequel follows the 2018 hit film “Stree,” which kickstarted the popular franchise.
Sharvari Wagh, reveling in the triumph of “Munjya,” reflected on her journey and success as an actor during a recent media interaction. She remarked, “My journey has been very blessed because I think I must be doing something right as an actor. I don’t come from this industry and I spent around seven or eight years auditioning. During those days, I didn’t get any work and I worked as an assistant director because I wanted to be on set and learn.”
