Sanjay Dutt has reportedly withdrawn from Akshay Kumar’s Welcome 3 due to health reasons. According to a report from Pinkvilla, the actor participated in the shoot for only one day before deciding to step down from the project. A source quoted by Pinkvilla mentioned, “The actor had shot for the film headlined by Akshay Kumar for only one day in Madh Island.” The source added, “His character had a lot of action in the movie, and hence, he decided to walk out considering his health issues.”
Sanjay Dutt joined the Welcome 3 shoot in December last year. Akshay Kumar had welcomed him to the film with an Instagram reel, showing Kumar riding a horse while Dutt followed on a bike. This announcement coincided with the 16th anniversary of the first film in the Welcome franchise, which Akshay Kumar acknowledged in his caption: “What a lovely coincidence that we celebrate 16 years of Welcome today while I am shooting for the franchise’s third part WelcomeToTheJungle. And it’s wonderful to welcome Sanju Baba in this one. What do you think?”
It’s notable that Sanjay Dutt is a cancer survivor, having announced his recovery in October 2020. In a tweet, he expressed gratitude and shared the news of being cancer-free, especially on his children’s birthday: “And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can – the health and well-being of our family.”
Welcome 3 boasts an extensive cast including Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, among others. Ahmed Khan is directing the film, with Welcome having originally released in 2007 starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, and Nana Patekar.
