Rohit Basfore, a young actor who recently appeared in the highly anticipated third season of Amazon Prime Video’s The Family Man, was found dead near the Garbhanga Waterfalls in Guwahati on Sunday afternoon. He was reportedly on a picnic with colleagues when the tragic incident occurred.
According to police sources, Basfore allegedly fell into the waterfall around 2 PM while visiting the scenic location with nine other companions. The Rani Police Outpost received information about the incident at approximately 4 PM and reached the spot by 4:30 PM. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) later recovered his body around 6:30 PM.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the actor’s death was the result of an accidental drowning. “No foul play is suspected at this stage,” said a police official. However, Rohit’s family has raised concerns and alleged possible foul play, urging authorities for a thorough investigation.
The actor had recently shared his excitement about working on Family Man 3 through a series of posts on Instagram. In one of his captions, he wrote, “On the sets of Family Man 3. It was a great experience and I always loved to learn new things.” His social media posts reflected a sense of pride and gratitude for being part of the acclaimed series created by Raj & DK, which stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role of Srikant Tiwari.
Rohit’s sudden and tragic death has sent shockwaves through the local entertainment industry and his fan base. Authorities have sent the body for a post-mortem examination, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The Family Man first premiered in 2019, with its second season released in 2021. The third installment, in which Rohit played a supporting role, has been eagerly awaited by fans of the espionage thriller.
Further updates on the case are expected once the post-mortem report is released.
