Rhea Chakraborty Reflects on Life Post-Sushant Singh Rajput: "I'm No Longer Acting in Films"

In the wake of a turbulent period marked by public scrutiny and personal challenges, actor Rhea Chakraborty is charting a new course. Following the tragic death of her boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020, Rhea faced intense media scrutiny and legal battles. Now, she is stepping away from acting to focus on motivational speaking, using her experiences to inspire others.

Rhea Chakraborty made her podcast debut on Saturday with “Chapter 2,” a title reflecting her journey towards healing and self-discovery. The podcast’s first episode featured actress Sushmita Sen as a guest. In the episode, Rhea opened up about her new direction in life and clarified her current professional focus.

“People are confused about what I do for a living anymore. I am not acting in films; I do other things. I do motivational speaking, and that’s how I earn my money,” Rhea shared during the podcast. She expressed that the podcast’s name is symbolic of her life’s transition. “Everybody knows my ‘chapter one’, or assumes that they know it. I did go through a lot of phases of feeling different emotions, being different versions of myself. Finally, I am feeling more me, but a newer version, like a rebirth. And I want to celebrate that with anyone who has a ‘chapter two’. I want to say that it is ok to have a chapter two, to start again, to move on in life. I want to celebrate change.”

Rhea’s life took a drastic turn after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, leading to her arrest in September 2020 in a drug-related case. She was granted bail in October 2020. Reflecting on that period, Rhea discussed how people perceived her public persona. “People ‘hated’ not me, but the ‘personality’ I created for the public. They had a problem with my image, which was created by me, and people interpreted it in a different way,” she said.

Rhea humorously noted that she now has a “superpower” to polarize opinions. “People think that I have done something, and some even think I indulge in ‘black magic’. Meanwhile, a section of people think that I am a strong girl who fought it all with courage,” she added.
