In a thunderous display of success, Ranbir Kapoor-starrer “Animal” continues its triumphant stride at the box office, bulldozing through milestones and setting new benchmarks in its wake. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial clashed with Meghna Gulzar’s “Sam Bahadur” on December 1, creating ripples across cinema halls nationwide.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “Animal” has turned into an unstoppable force, amassing an astonishing ₹278.46 crore in its Hindi version alone within the first six days of its release. The film’s staggering performance saw a robust collection of ₹27.80 crore on Wednesday, ensuring a record-breaking first-week total.
What’s more, when factoring in the regional versions, the cumulative box office earnings surge to a colossal ₹314.50 crore, further solidifying “Animal’s” dominance in the current cinematic landscape.
Adarsh’s reports highlighted the film’s remarkable journey, citing the consecutive day-wise collections that propelled “Animal” to its phenomenal success: Friday ₹54.75 cr, Saturday ₹58.37 cr, Sunday ₹63.46 cr, Monday ₹40.06 cr, Tuesday ₹34.02 cr, and Wednesday ₹27.80 cr for its Hindi version.
The film’s pace to reach the ₹250-crore mark, surpassing notable blockbusters like “Jawan,” “Pathaan,” “Baahubali 2,” and “Gadar 2,” further underscores its box office dominance.
However, critical reception has been a mixed bag. While the audience has flocked to witness Kapoor’s powerhouse performance, film critic Saibal Chatterjee’s review for NDTV offered a contrasting viewpoint. Awarding “Animal” 1.5 stars, Chatterjee expressed reservations about the film’s portrayal of the protagonist, emphasizing the excessive use of violence and the character’s approach towards love and family.
Despite the clash with “Sam Bahadur,” starring Vicky Kaushal and helmed by Meghna Gulzar, “Animal” has maintained its stronghold in theaters, drawing audiences with its adrenaline-packed narrative and star-studded cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles.
As “Animal” charges towards its second weekend, all eyes are on its trajectory, with industry experts predicting that the forthcoming days will offer insights into its eventual lifetime collections. With its relentless run at the box office, “Animal” seems poised to rewrite records and leave an indelible mark on the annals of Indian cinema.
