Ranbir Kapoor's "Animal" Roars Past ₹800 Crore Worldwide, Outpaces "Pathaan" in Australia and Canada

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action-packed “Animal,” starring Ranbir Kapoor, continues to shatter records globally, marking its dominance at the box office by surpassing the ₹800 crore mark within just 16 days of its release.

The film, which features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Shakti Kapoor, has solidified its place in cinematic history by becoming the highest-grossing Indian film in Australia and Canada, overtaking the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” in both markets.

“Animal” has amassed a staggering ₹816.3 crore worldwide, showcasing its massive appeal across diverse audiences. Released on December 1 in multiple languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam – the film’s success extends beyond the US, resonating strongly in Canada and Australia.

Despite controversy surrounding its themes and receiving a mix of negative reviews, “Animal” has defied expectations, emerging as Ranbir Kapoor’s most successful venture to date. Notably, the movie’s extensive runtime of nearly three-and-a-half hours and its A-rating, positioning it as the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film ever, adds to its surprising achievements.

Criticism directed at the film highlights its portrayal of toxic masculinity and the dismissal of misogynistic character behavior. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga faced similar reproach for his previous works, “Arjun Reddy” (2017) and its Hindi remake “Kabir Singh” (2019), known for controversially handling similar themes.

The narrative of “Animal” revolves around the tumultuous relationship between a father and son, portrayed by Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor respectively. Bobby Deol assumes the role of the menacing antagonist, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Vijay’s wife, Geetanjali Iyengar. Supporting roles are held by Triptii Dimri, Charu Shankar, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Shakti Kapoor, Madhu Raja, Suresh Oberoi, and Siddhant Karnick.

Despite divisive opinions, “Animal” continues its triumphant roar at the box office, setting new benchmarks and solidifying its position as a global cinematic sensation, captivating audiences worldwide with its compelling narrative and powerhouse performances.
