Ranbir Kapoor Reunites with Sanjay Leela Bhansali After 17 Years for Love and War

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is all set to collaborate with acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the upcoming movie Love and War, marking their reunion after 17 years. Speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Ranbir expressed his excitement and deep admiration for Bhansali, referring to him as his “godfather.”

“I am extremely excited. He is my godfather. Everything I know about films, everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him,” Ranbir shared. This partnership comes after their work on Saawariya in 2007, which marked Ranbir’s debut in Bollywood.

A Special Bond

Reflecting on their journey, Ranbir praised Bhansali’s commitment to his craft, describing the director as someone entirely devoted to his films. “He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something different,” the actor remarked.

Despite past challenges on Bhansali’s sets, including reports of a strained working relationship, Ranbir has consistently acknowledged the director’s unparalleled vision and the lasting impact of his mentorship.

Love and War: A Tale of Patriotism and Romance

Love and War promises to be a compelling mix of love and patriotism. The film stars Alia Bhatt as a cabaret dancer, while Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal play officers in the Indian Armed Forces. The shoot is currently underway at Bikaner’s Air Force Base, with Alia Bhatt set to join in December after wrapping up her work on YRF’s Alpha.

Adding to the anticipation, reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan may appear in a cameo alongside Ranbir in the second half of the film. The collaboration has generated significant buzz among fans and critics alike.

A Journey Comes Full Circle

For Ranbir, returning to work with Bhansali feels like a homecoming. As the actor gears up for this ambitious project, the film is set to showcase not only his growth as an artist but also the enduring magic of a director-actor duo that left an indelible mark on Indian cinema 17 years ago.
