In a heartfelt family tradition, actor Ranbir Kapoor was seen performing Ganpati Visarjan with his mother, Neetu Kapoor, on Wednesday, September 11. The custom, which dates back to the late Rishi Kapoor, is now carried forward by Ranbir. The ceremony was marked by the duo’s devotion, with Ranbir lifting the idol of Lord Ganesha before the visarjan (immersion) while Neetu directed the staff, ensuring the rituals were performed smoothly.
The Ganpati Visarjan ritual has been a part of the Kapoor family tradition since Raj Kapoor introduced it in 1952 at RK Studios. The late actor and filmmaker, alongside his father Prithviraj Kapoor, was known for celebrating various festivals with his family and the studio crew. This secular approach is also shared by Salman Khan’s family, who are known for celebrating all Indian festivals.
As a video of the Kapoor family’s visarjan surfaced online, fans showered the moment with love. One admirer commented, “Very very beautiful,” while another expressed curiosity about Alia Bhatt’s absence, asking, “Where’s Alia? Why is she never present?” The heartfelt ceremony resonated with many, adding to the love and admiration fans have for the Kapoor family.
After his recent appearance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, Ranbir is gearing up for his next major project in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he will portray Lord Ram. The film, based on the ancient texts by sage Valmiki, will also feature Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, along with Arun Govil and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles. The epic drama has already generated significant anticipation among audiences. Ranbir is also slated to work on Sandeep’s Animal Park later in 2025.
