Rakesh Roshan Explains Salman Khan’s Absence from ‘The Roshans’ Docuseries

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has clarified why Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was missing from the Netflix documentary The Roshans, which chronicles the legacy of his family in Indian cinema. In an interview with News18, Rakesh Roshan revealed that while he had personally invited Salman to participate, the actor was unable to commit due to ongoing personal challenges.

Salman’s Personal Challenges

Rakesh Roshan explained that Salman genuinely wanted to be part of the project but had to cancel his participation at the last minute multiple times. “I did call him up, but he was stuck in his own problems and that’s why he couldn’t make it,” he said.

One of the significant issues surrounding Salman is the alleged death threats he received from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. These threats have heightened security concerns around the actor, leading to increased personal stress and logistical challenges.

Salman & Shah Rukh’s Karan Arjun Bond

The absence of Salman Khan was particularly noted as his long-time co-star Shah Rukh Khan did participate in the documentary. Fans were hopeful for insights from both actors regarding their iconic 1995 film Karan Arjun, where they played brothers. Rakesh Roshan acknowledged this, saying, “If he was there, he could’ve shared some more light on us and his experiences during Karan Arjun.”

While the two megastars haven’t co-starred in leading roles since Karan Arjun, they have made special appearances in each other’s films over the years. Addressing the possibility of reuniting them on screen, Rakesh Roshan stated, “If I have a good story where their tracks run parallel as it was in Karan Arjun, I can definitely bring them back.”

The Roshans: A Legacy on Display

Despite Salman Khan’s absence, The Roshans remains a compelling documentary, offering an intimate look at the Roshan family’s contributions to Bollywood. The series features insights from industry legends, shedding light on their cinematic journey and the impact they’ve had on Indian filmmaking.

While fans may have missed Salman in this project, there is still hope that he and Shah Rukh Khan could reunite on screen if the right story comes along.
